- “I GUESS IT'S LOVE?“ was first teased as a snippet on The Kid LAROI’s Instagram page through various posts and stories during mid-2022. Lyrically, the song represents a fresh and positive idea of love, specifically avoided in the ‘F*CK LOVE’ trilogy. Supported by a novel upbeat instrumental, the song was cemented as an instant classic among fans. Eventually, the song was leaked in it’s entirety alongside a music video exploring the intimate side of LAROI’s relationship with his girlfriend Katrina. As news spread that the music video had been scrapped due to LAROI’s distaste, fans questioned whether the song had also been removed from the roster for his album, THE FIRST TIME. This continued as LAROI began to promote other unreleased songs such as “WHAT JUST HAPPENED“ and “Love Again“. The Kid LAROI’s Wild Dreams, a creative Fortnite experience, was announced on January 24, and was to go underway on January 28. LAROI announced that alongside some fan-favourites, and his new single Love Again, (released January 27th) three unreleased songs from his upcoming album would appear in the event. Two days before the event, leakers discovered that alongside “WHAT JUST HAPPENED“ and “Kids Are Growing Up (Part 1)“, a clean version of “I Guess It’s Love?“ would appear in the experience. It was confirmed on February 10, with the release of “Kids Are Growing Up (Part 1)“, that “I Guess It’s Love?“ would be releasing as LAROI’s next single. The date was later confirmed to be February 24, 2023. In the fortnight leading up to the release of “I Guess It’s Love?“, various images and videos of LAROI and Katrina in costume began surfacing, likely due to filming of a new version of the song’s accompanying music video. The video appeared to bear similarities to it’s first draft (such as LAROI and Katrina being intimate and growing old together), but possibly became less revealing in it’s portrayal of a sexual relationship. (This may be due to the track being featured in LAROI’s Fortnite experience.) When the cover art (depicting Katrina costumed to appear older, holding two middle fingers to the camera) was revealed on The Kid LAROI’s Instagram, it received a wave of backlash. On February 22, LAROI teased a new mix of “I Guess It’s Love?“ on his Twitter. The Mike Dean mix, adored by LAROI fans since the song’s first snippet on LAROI’s Instagram story sometime in 2021, was scrapped. The Mike Dean mix was the version teased in Fortnite, so the reveal of a new mix led to some confusion. In this new version, The Kid LAROI’s vocals had been redone, and were louder, though somewhat muffled. The percussion volume had been increased, the melody volume decreased, and background vocals had filled the song. The track officially released on February 24th. The song, spanning a time of 2:17, had been drastically shortened by over a minute (it originally had a length of 3:21), as LAROI had scrapped the third verse, as well as the outro. It has officially been confirmed that the song will not be included in THE FIRST TIME, which is releasing before LAROI’s BLEED FOR YOU college tour begins in late March. .
