About this event

Flemington Racecourse on Melbourne Cup Day is as busy and colourful as the calendar gets. General Admission gets you into the public areas: the Front Lawn, Hill Square, The Hill Stand Level 1, the Betting Ring, Saintly Place and The Park, each with its own feel, from the big-hat crowd on the lawn to the festival buzz in The Park.

The carnival is part racing, part fashion parade and part long lunch. Expect music across the day, good food to graze on, and the usual Cup Week chaos of backing a horse on a whim.

It's a day for mates and a bit of a splurge, and one of the few places in Melbourne where a crowd this size still feels like a party.
