GDP Cross Off Matthew is New Jersey born emcee/producer GDP’s first solo album in over A decade. Entirely self-produced, it plays like a reintroduction as well as an expansion of what distinguished the cult rappers unique sound.GDP came up in the respective punk/hardcore, hip-hop and skateboard communities of New Jersey and New York. He cultivated a decidedly punk ethos for his brand of neo boom bap, opting to release on labels such as Run For Cover and Ride the Fury Records instead of more traditional hip-hop outlets. Early releases like 2009’s Realistic Expectations and 2011’s Useless Eaters celebrated his youthful indiscretions while also alluding to the old soul lying just beneath the surface. Coupled with an ambitious DIY touring schedule, G carved out a dedicated fanbase throughout the early 2010’s. As his following grew, so did the pressures of making ends meet as an independent artist.
