Inspired by the passion of salsa luminaries such as Eddie Palmieri, Ray Barretto, and Héctor Lavoe, the band channels the raw, high-energy sound of 1970s New York but in the now.Formed in Melbourne, Australia, Quarter Street brings a hefty, gritty, hard-edged approach to salsa, staying true to the hard-out analog era Latin music that defined the genre’s golden age. Their percussive drive, bold brass, and commanding Spanish-language vocals ignite dance floors, capturing the soulful urgency that made salsa dura a global force.Their self-titled debut album earned international acclaim and was recognized as Best Global Album by Music Victoria. Praised by TheMusic.com.au for its authenticity, the record cemented Quarter Street’s reputation as one of the most exciting Latin bands in Australia.
