The Doric String Quartet bring Thomas Adès' Alchymia to the Queensland Conservatorium, joined by clarinettist Lloyd Van't Hoff for a chamber programme that's been doing the rounds as one of the more talked-about quartet works going.

Adès drew on the music of Shakespearean England here, though the piece holds a voice of its own.

A quieter night in the South Bank precinct for anyone whose listening leans toward the chamber end of things, away from the Valley's louder rooms.
