At the same age Silverchair were when they unleashed Freak Show onto the world, Melbourne heavy outfit Civilians are paying tribute to one of the most important and uncompromising records in Australian music history.Released in 1997, Freak Show was loud, chaotic, emotional, and brutally honest — a snapshot of youth, pressure, alienation, and rebellion created by a band barely out of school. Thirty years later, its impact still echoes through Australian heavy music, alternative rock, and punk scenes. Now, Civilians step into that same space, performing the album front to back in a special one-night-only celebration of its legacy.What makes this tribute unique is the connection between the band and the material. Civilians are the same age Silverchair were when they wrote and recorded Freak Show, bringing a perspective that feels less like nostalgia and more like lived experience.
