About this song
- “Dreams” is the closing track of Kylie Minogue’s sixth album, Impossible Princess. It was written by Kylie, Steve Anderson and Dave Seaman, and produced by Brothers in Rhythm. The orchestral pop ballad uses a mixture of eerie-sounding strings, booming bass, and drums, and was deemed a "thought-provoking fairy-tale". The track was originally entitled "Impossible Princess", which later became the album's title, as a reference to Billy Childish's 1994 book “Poems to Break the Harts of Impossible Princesses”. She recalled only looking at the title of the book and saying, "I immediately related to those two words, that phrase. (…) It was like a movie moment. I saw the title of the album in my head. It has reality to my world, some irony, it's humorous... It was perfect. (…) The Impossible Princess in the song ‘Dreams’ is wanting everything. In another way, Impossible Princess is the girl with the show pony. And I am that. Glitter, spotlight, razzle, dazzle. I have friends who say, from time to time, 'Oh God, get her a stage, she's going into one of those moments. It’ll be out of her system in a moment'. The next moment I'll be reserved. 'Schizophrenic' is a way other people would describe it." . User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By-SA License; additional terms may apply. — lastfm
