About this song
- “Drugs” could be about two things. It could be about taking drugs and living a luxurious life, as alluded to in the first verse where Charli sings: "Put ecstasy on my tongue and that’s all I’m tasting now…" Simultaneously, the image of “drugs” is a metaphor for love. The “dealer” in the song is therefore Charli’s love interest, who deals her the drugs she needs – perhaps seratonin, which is the chemical in the brain that produces sensations of happiness. It’s not the first time on the mixtape Charli’s used this imagery – she alludes to being “high” off love on “Blame It On U” and “3AM (Pull Up).” The track features newcomer ABRA, an Atlanta-based R&B artist. .
