About this song

  • “promise” by 2hollis is a very artistic piece about the stages of grief he (the character spoken of in the song) felt over the course of a breakup. The song starts with a slow and soft piano, and he explains he is meeting up with his significant other. He realizes she is crying, and slowly realizes its because of him. The song uses very punchy synthesizers (a major contrast to the rest of the song, which is made up of soft pianos and other instruments) to allow the listener to feel the same grief he feels over what he has done. The song shows the multiple stages of a breakup, and evokes emotions on the listener very well. Overall, it’s absolutely one of his most artistic pieces. .
