Adelaide psych-rock four-piece Sugar Tongue have won the local opener spot for South Summit's Adelaide show, taking out the band's #runitbackcomp to play Lion Arts Factory on 17 July 2026.

Adelaide's own Sugar Tongue have landed one of the most coveted support slots of the winter: opening for Perth breakouts South Summit at Lion Arts Factory on Friday 17 July 2026.

How they won it

Back on 22 May, South Summit put the call out across Australia for local openers in every city on their Run It Back tour. The brief was simple but telling: record a cover of one of the singles from their new album, post it to Instagram with your city in the caption, tag @southsummitband and use the hashtag #runitbackcomp.

Entries poured in from around the country, and on Friday 5 June the band started announcing their picks city by city. For Adelaide, the nod went to Sugar Tongue — named as the city's winner on South Summit's own channels.

Who are Sugar Tongue?

Sugar Tongue are an Adelaide four-piece trading in surf-tinged psych rock — infectious grooves, laid-back reggae pulses and just enough pop bite. Off the back of their debut album Tongue Twister, they've become a fixture of the local live scene, and the South Summit slot puts them in front of one of their biggest hometown crowds yet.
