About this event

Welcome to Nimbin MardiGrass!Join us for the annual cannabis law reform rally and gathering in the heart of Nimbin. MardiGrass started in 1992 when half the village turned up on May 1st to march on the copshop after some hippy communes got yet again terrifying helicopter raids. It was a powerful protest against unjust drug laws and a vibrant celebration of counter-culture, community, and the many uses of cannabis—from medicinal and industrial to recreational and spiritual. We had such a good day standing up to their bullying we vowed to do it every year until we are no longer criminals for growing our own medicine. What to Expect: The Sunday Protest Rally & Parade: Is now an iconic procession through the village, complete with the giant "Big Joint" and the Ganja Faeries. This is where we make our voices heard and stand together for change. Saturday's Kombi Konvoy: followed by the 420 Blaze is a highlight, always hoping to break the world record for the most joints lit at once. Hemp
