About Listen Out

Listen Out was Fuzzy's boutique touring dance and hip-hop festival, playing inner-city sites in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Perth each spring from 2013. It is currently on pause: in July 2025 the promoters announced the festival would not run "as you know it", citing tough years of rising production, insurance and security costs against softening ticket sales. In its place, the team pivoted to Listen Out Presents — one-off curated parties rather than a national tour. No full festival return has been announced, so treat the brand as dormant rather than dead.

History

Fuzzy created Listen Out in 2013 after retiring Parklife, its large-scale touring festival, deliberately trading scale for a tighter, electronic-and-hip-hop-focused format. The first tour opened at Sydney's Centennial Park on 28 September 2013, headlined by Disclosure and Azealia Banks, before hitting Perth, Melbourne and Brisbane.

The festival skipped 2020 and 2021 under COVID restrictions and resumed in 2022.

In July 2025 Fuzzy hit pause, saying "the last few years have been tough", and replaced the tour with Listen Out Presents parties.

Notable Moments

The 2025 pause was announced honestly rather than spun: organisers pointed to complex regulation, rising operational costs and risk, and cost-of-living pressure on punters — the same forces that took down a string of Australian festivals across 2024 and 2025. Listen Out Presents is the hedge: smaller one-off parties in "killer locations" that keep the brand and the booking relationships alive.
