About Harvest Rock

Harvest Rock is a two-day music, food and wine festival staged in Adelaide's east parklands — Murlawirrapurka/Rymill Park and Ityamai-itpina/King Rodney Park — by Secret Sounds, the promoters behind Splendour in the Grass and Falls Festival, with backing from the South Australian government. Launched in 2022, it pairs exclusive international headliners with cellar-door pop-ups, local winemakers and chefs, pitched squarely at a grown-up festival crowd. It has run three editions to date, taking fallow years in 2024 and again in 2026.

History

The inaugural Harvest Rock ran over 19–20 November 2022, with Jack White playing his only Australian show of the year alongside Courtney Barnett, The Avalanches, Hot Chip, The Lumineers and Groove Armada, and a wine programme curated by critic Nick Stock.

The second edition moved to the last weekend of October 2023, pulling Jamiroquai and Beck to Australia exclusively for the festival, plus Nile Rodgers & Chic, Paul Kelly, Sparks and Santigold. The festival then skipped 2024 entirely.

It returned on 25–26 October 2025 with The Strokes in an Australian exclusive and Jelly Roll on his first visit to the country — a comeback edition that sold out.

Notable Moments

In July 2026 Secret Sounds confirmed Harvest Rock would take "a fallow year" in 2026 — its second year off in three — saying good things take time and that future plans were already in the works. A South Australian government spokesperson pointed to the challenged global touring climate, with less international talent reaching Australia.

The news landed hard with punters given the 2025 edition had quickly sold out, and it left South Australia without one of its flagship government-backed music events for the year.
